And the air freshener is “New Car Smell”
![]() 04/26/2016 at 17:09 |

How else are you going to cover up the stench of depreciation?

You turn into a black guy?

I actually did see that. Brand new Rav 4.

Yes Zoidberg, exactly.

some people salt their soup before tasting it too...humanity is a sham.

Or clear plastic seat covers...
![]() 04/26/2016 at 17:13 |

Or my wife’s patented move: adding Sriracha to anything before tasting.
![]() 04/26/2016 at 17:14 |

Well I know I like sriracha...and I don’t know if I like this...hmmm, I know!

I’d do that, love me some coconut little trees!

And has question marks hovering around him. Sketchy.

Well that I can understand, especially when it’s something that came in packaged or frozen.
![]() 04/26/2016 at 17:18 |

Or seat covers at all. “I bought a nice car with leather seats, but I’m going to cover then in spandex, and polyester from O’Reily’s so the next person who owns this car can enjoy the seats.

I dont blame them, some new cars have weird smells.
Hyundai/Kia have a weird industrial chemical smell.
VW smells like melting Crayons.

Some people REALLY like Black Ice.

I got some rhythm. It was shocking.

I don’t really mind it, I had quite the collection of air fresheners in my A4. Then in my A6.
But now that I have new car smell, I don’t need none of that crap.

no. an orange little tree will forever hang from my mirror, rather it’s a 1995 Civic, or a brand new F-150.

get out
![]() 04/26/2016 at 18:23 |

Make much more appealing to a potential buyer... They’re making some nice seat covers out of neoprene wetsuit material.

I’ve got Yankee Candle vanilla scented air vent air freshners in mine because I like the smell. They went in on day three of getting the car, they would of went in straight away but only found them on the third day after getting the car.
The car has leather interior and smells nice but I like the vanilla scent more.

I have never owned a new-new car, but cars that are new to me, I always do that, and it’s generally more of a “I claim this as mine” kind of thing. Like a collar on a dog. But it’s not a generic smelly tree. It’s almost always an “Estonia” Wunderbaum tree that’s more like a touch of personalization, and not to produce a smell necessarily.

Speaking of which.....
A week before my old car became too expensive for me to maintain (Audi A6), I ordered a few Wunderbaums from Croatia.
Next old German car I have, they’re going in.

Yea I moved my Estonia Wunderbaum from my Audi A6 that became too expensive to maintain (4.2L chain guides, valve damange, etc..) to my Acura.

Shit, really? Hahah.
We both used to have A6s with Wunderbaums that we sold because they cost too much to maintain? That’s pretty cool actually.

Seems to be a trend there... I had a 2005 C6 A6 with the 4.2L. The chain guides went, taking some of the internals with them. The dealer quoted me Ten Thousand Dollars to fix it (used cars in similar conditions were running under $10k around here). Indy shops would have put a new used engine in there for roughtly $6-7k. I figured it was time to get out, and sold what was left of the car for a bit under $5k, paid off what was left of my loan, and used what was left to get the Acura MDX for now...

I had a one owner ‘00 A6 with only 100k on it, bad clutch and a bunch of other small problems that would be considered wear items and much cheaper on any other car. No other real problems ever before then though. It was a reliable car for the first 15 years of its life.
Couldn’t stomach the $5,000+ repair bill. Really nice car, took great care of it also.

Yea I sometimes wished I had opted for a really clean C5 A6 instead of the C6, maybe a 4.2L with the wide-body, but at the time the C6 seemed newer and flashier for the same price. It wasn’t a totally clean one though - multiple owners, some minor previous accident damage, some wear and tear.. It did last me a good 70k miles until it finally imploded at 150k or so. There was some minor chain rattle from early on, but the dealers all said that “that’s normal, they all do that”.

The 4.2 was a preeeety sexy engine for the C5. A few people were running them over 300k and having them still hold up fine. I chose the 2.7t though because manual.
My A6 still looked good for the age and I still got compliments from strangers from time to time, but it still was kinda beat at the same time.
